It’s been recently rumored that Zeiss was prepping a pair of new lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras due to the current success and foreseeable expansion of large chip MILC offerings.

The aforementioned new line of lenses was presumed to be called “Loxia” and the first two purported releases were believed to be of the manual focus only variety in the form of a 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/2. Today, SonyAlphaRumors added a dose of credibility to the early reports by releasing the image above; presumably our first look at the Loxia 50mm F/2.0 Planar for the Sony Alpha a7.

There’s been no word on exact release dates, but sources close to SAR believe Zeiss will make things official relatively soon. The following is the 50mm f/2′s rumored specifications:

  • 6 lens elements arranged in 4 groups
  • Focal length: 50 mm
  • Aperture range: f/2.0–f/22
  • Field angle: (diag./horiz./vert.) 46.78°/39.38°/26.70°
  • Coverage: (mm/inch) 255.1 x 168.3/10.04 x 6.6
